This is a most common question for many Chinese martial arts students "Why do many Chinese martial arts/Wushu forms have the same name but different movements?".
Traditional Chinese martial arts have a long history. The master teaches it to many students, and after students become masters, they are taught to many of their students, and so on.
Each martial artist has their specialties and a unique understanding of martial arts. And have their own opinions on martial arts. Gradually, martial arts routines have the same name but different movements. Therefore, martial arts gradually began to have prosperous types, and thus, martial arts can flourish, develop, and innovate.
Which one is right or better, and which one should I learn?
There is no right or wrong form in all martial arts, only different styles. It is not about good or bad, strong or weak. Only the martial arts attainments of the martial arts practitioners are other. For example, will martial arts practitioners understand and apply martial arts well? Do they know how to use it and when to use it? It is not just about martial arts form or movements, the way they trained, the purpose they prepared, the time and effort they paid, the level of understanding of the martial arts, and their strategy.
In short, when you see different movements with the same form's name, don't be surprised, be open mind, observe, learn, and learn from each other's strengths.
Bruce Lee Quote
"Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash Be Water, My Friend." - Bruce Lee
Some rules need to be followed in the Chinese martial arts competition
Competitive martial arts or Wushu tao Lu is different. In each type of wushu competition, there must be music, and there must be specified movements and difficulties included in the form and completed within the specified time. You need to wear an appropriate uniform and shoes and use specific equipment. Here, you should pay attention to choreographing actions according to the regulations and be creative.
Although there are no specific requirements for martial arts form in traditional martial arts competitions, one should pay attention to the time and type.
